The Lightning X Vented Chest Seal is an occlusive dressing designed to treat open chest wounds. Injuries to the chest that result in open chest wounds may lead to tension pneumothorax, the second leading cause of preventable death on the battlefield. Our chest Seal is made with a medical grade hydrogel adhesive strong enough to adhere to skin that is exposed to blood, sweat, hair, sand or water. With the entire package measuring only 6″ x 4″, it’s configured to fit in IFAKs and small personal trauma kits. The 4 vent design maximizes venting and ensures proper chest seal function in the event of an obstruction. Dimensions: 6″ x 6″. The LX-CSV Chest Seal by Lightning X creates a long-lasting seal, even in extreme temperatures, to close off an opening in the chest wall due to an open chest injury. Our seal has transparent backing to allow for placement directly over the wound and easily conform to the patient’s chest. The adhesive ensures a strong seal even when blood, sweat, hair, sand and water are present. Chest seals should be used when an open chest injury occurs, usually due to a gunshot or stab wound. They work by closing the chest wall opening to keep collapsed lungs inflated.
